Foam Layers

There are four distinct layers that make up this latex hybrid mattress starting from the durable and resilient support foam, offering strength and long-lasting protection for the other layers on top. The bottom layer showcases a 5-inch polyurethane foam with a density of 1.8 PCF. The layer on top of the support base is the proprietary transition foam made from 1.5-inch poly foam materials with a density of 2.5 PCF. This adaptive transition layer is designed to ensure consistent and even weight distribution for optimal comfort.

1.5-inch memory foam sits on top of the transition foam, providing pressure relief and support with a high-density level of 4.0 PCF. The topmost layer of the mattress is the 1.5-inch latex synthetic Dunlop foam with an open-cell feature to guarantee coolness and no heat retention. Since it is also latex, this layer is hypoallergenic and softness that offers just the right amount of bouncing effect. The woven cover is a bonus layer that is made from premium quality textiles, exhibiting resilience, flexibility, and breathability.

How it Feels

User satisfaction score
82 %

Heat detention is one of the most commendable qualities of the Casper Mattress. However, this may also depend on the sheet and mattress toppers you used. The mattress holds less heat compared to any other mattress brands with memory foam style as it stays cooler even with a high temperature in the room during winter when your heater is turned up. The foam stays cool for hours, but you’ll never know how the mattress will fair in terms of heat detention or how your body would react to your new mattress unless you’ve used it for several nights.

The latex hybrid bed is not only comfortable but it also provides back pain relief due to the sufficient support especially for side sleepers. However, it is important to note that the firmness is quite ideal only for heavy persons who weighing 130 lbs or more. The comfort level of the latex hybrid highly depends on your weight and the Casper Mattress is not good for thin or lightweight individuals that weigh 110 lbs or less. There are issues of waking up with back and hip pains for lightweight individuals especially when you are sleeping on your side.

The motion transfer property of the mattress helps prevent any disturbances when your partner moves or gets out of bed, and although it is great for price and motion isolation, the firmness level is not for lightweight individuals who are side and light sleepers. Nevertheless, for those who are compatible to the foam weight-wise, it is a remarkable choice even without a topper. There may also be a distinct chemical smell when you initially use or unpack the foam as a sign of off-gassing which could last for at least two weeks.
